Update

The kitten found a home...a guy Danny goes to school with. She left us yesterday and we really don't miss her or the litter box. Yes, she had been sleeping inside.

Danny's most recent heavily researched purchase

During our last camping trip we encountered some very heavy winds that tore our old tent to shreds. Duct tape got us through that trip but it has been retired. Danny found this one online for a great price. It only took 1 month to be delivered from Oregon. We thought someone might actually be backpacking it across the country to us and they would show up at our doorstep sweaty and breathless with our tent in their hands, but it turned out to be a UPS guy instead. We are planning a possible camping trip to Key West in November depending on my work schedule.

Our tent's first adventure...the backyard.

Look what I did!

Danny and I found this end table at Goodwill for $5.99. It was very scratched up, but sturdy.

I used a liquid deglosser/cleaner then painted it with some leftover sample paint I had from when I painted the condo. I wanted to change the drawer pulls out, but haven't found any that fit the existing holes. Painting was ambitious enough, I have no desire to fill and drill holes.

Suckers

Last night I was called off of work (too many people scheduled, stupid management), so Danny and I took Vic for a walk at 10pm. Vic took off into the brush and something small and white was bouncing toward Vic.
"Danny! Pull him back! Its coming toward him! What is it?!"
Of course Danny had a flashlight and revealed it was a kitten. It was meowing like crazy and kept rubbing up on Vic. We had a conversation. Do we keep it or leave it. Danny carried her home. We fed her and gave her water and she slept outside. "We'll take her the humane society in the morning."  We both hoped she would just be gone in the morning. She wasn't.
This morning the Humane society said she is too small and they would euthanize her tomorrow. Crap. They will take her in 2 weeks when she has gained more weight and can be spayed and adopted. Crap. Oh, and she has tape worms that can't be treated until she is bigger. Crap.

New plan. She will remain outside, we will offer her to anyone who breathes, she will go to the Humane society in two weeks or 2 pounds, whichever comes first.

We got a rug...our lives are sooo exciting.

Danny and I were going to the grocery store. I looked up and saw that we were in a different part of town than where we shop and pulling into Homegoods. I was confused. Danny said he wanted  to go look at rugs. What? Actually he had taken the wrong exit and was going to try to play it off, but we did find a rug for the living room.

I made laundry detergent

I followed these directions...
Make Your Own Laundry Detergent! It's Easy! Save BIG & Have Fresh, Clean Laundry! | Busy-at-Home
This blogger figured it costs 20¼¢ per jug of detergent (which is 75 loads)!
I didn't take pictures because it turned out exactly like the directions. It was kind of a pain to grate and boil the soap, but still only took me less than an hour.
Done a couple of loads and I think it is working.
